Make color-changing firestarters for the fireplace! Spoon 1/2 inch of powdered alum into mini paper cups and carefully fill with melted wax. Stir to mix and let set. Toss a cup or 2 into a fire and watch as green flames appear…kids love it!

Spicy Butternut Bake

Try using frozen butternut squash for this yummy casserole…much easier than cutting up a fresh butternut squash.

2 c. butternut squash, cooked and mashed

3 eggs, beaten

1 c. milk

1/4 c. butter, melted

3/4 c. sugar

1 t. ground ginger

1 t. cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; spread in a lightly greased 8"x8" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes; stir and return to oven. Bake for an additional 10 minutes. Serves 4.
